LEDS LAST FOREVER

LEDs have a long life but degradation will occur over time depending on the quality of the chips and drivers.

LEDS GENERATE NO HEAT

LEDs do not emit heat like an incandescent or halogen, but heat is an issue. The heat is in the driver area, which can fail if there is not enough air circulation or quality heat sink.

A 3 WATT LED IS BRIGHTER THAN A 1 WATT LED

The wattage is how much power the LED uses and not how much light it gives. Higher quality LED chips and electronics will produce greater lumen output per watt than poorer quality LED products.

LEDS LIGHT QUALITY IS POOR

A portion of LED lighting on the market is poor quality, this is the real issue. That is why understanding the efficacy (lumens per watt), colour temperature, and life hours is important to qualify the quality of the LED products you are looking at. To find this information look on the LED packaging to find the “Lighting Facts” chart.

LEDS ARE BAD FOR YOUR EYES

You may have seen some articles stating LEDs are bad for your eyes. This is only half correct, LED itself is not bad for your eyes but blue-white light can be. Stay away from the cooler colour temperatures such as 5000K and higher. This is the same concept as the light filters for you phone to create a warmer more comfortable light. We recommend 3000K to 3500K, this is the most optimal colour temperature. Remember, its still not a good idea to stare directly at any light source!

LEDS LIGHT IS TOO COOL/BLUE

LEDs are not all the same colour like incandescent! Read about colour temperature (colour of the light) to see what we recommend.
